In the Philippines, lambanóg is a traditional liquor made by distilling the fermented sap from coconut trees. The result is a powerful spirit high in alcohol content, with a clear, colorless appearance and a flavor resembling vodka, only lighter, fruitier and slightly sweet – with an aftertaste suggesting the earthiness of coconut shells blended with the cushiony bitterness of crushed walnuts.
