Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey
Kentucky Straight Bourbon | Single Barrel | Bottled in Bond | 100 Proof (50% ABV) | 750ml | Buffalo Trace Distillery
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel is bottled from one hand-picked barrel at a time, so every bottle offers its own distinct character. Bottled-in-bond at 100 proof and aged exclusively in a historic warehouse built by Taylor himself, it is one of the most respected single barrel bourbons from Buffalo Trace Distillery.
The Story Behind the Bottle
Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. is widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the bourbon industry. Nearly three decades after purchasing the distillery now known as Buffalo Trace, he championed the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which guaranteed whiskey quality for American drinkers. Taylor also pioneered methods still used today, including climate-controlled aging warehouses. This single barrel release is aged only in Warehouse C, which Taylor built in 1881 and which remains one of the distillery's finest aging spaces.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: Caramel, vanilla and toasted oak with hints of honey and baking spice.
- Palate: Rich and balanced, with butterscotch, brown sugar, cinnamon and subtle dark fruit over a firm oak backbone.
- Finish: Long and smooth, with lingering spice, toffee and oak.
Because each bottle comes from a single barrel, flavors can vary slightly from barrel to barrel.
How to Enjoy It
Enjoy it neat or with a splash of water to reveal its layers of caramel and spice. At 100 proof it also makes an excellent Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
