Penelope Bourbon Toasted Series Barrel Finish takes Penelope's signature four-grain straight bourbon and gives it a second finish: after full maturation in charred new American oak barrels, the bourbon is finished in a new, freshly toasted barrel. Bottled at 50% ABV (100 proof).
A Different Bottle Every Batch
Each Toasted Series batch is a unique blend of Penelope's three bourbon mash bills, finished with its own custom char and toast level, so no two batches are quite the same. This release uses a mash bill of roughly 74% corn, 21% rye, and 5% malted barley.
Tasting Notes
- Nose: vanilla, honey, caramel, and lemon peel.
- Palate: vanilla, honey, toasted oak, and warm cinnamon spice, building in intensity.
- Finish: long and warming, with lemongrass and toasted oak carrying through.
How to Enjoy It
Sip it neat to let the toasted-barrel character fully open up, or add a splash of water to soften the proof and draw out more of the vanilla and honey notes.
