The Etude Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is handcrafted with grapes from unique benchland vineyards representing the major sub-appellations of Napa Valley. The 2018Cabernet was sourced with fruit from some of the most highly regarded winegrowers in Napa Valley îPollard and Bale Lane in St. Helena, Vine Hill Ranch in Oakville, Bear Flats Vineyard in Calistoga, MorisoliVineyards in Rutherford and Meteor Vineyard in Coombsville. By deliberately sourcing fruit from this group of exemplary vineyards, this wine exhibits the full potential of Cabernet fruit flavors and textures with vitality andfinesse.

Exuberant and not at all shy in declaring its complexity, this wine is big and plush with mouth -filling layers ofblackberry, black cherryand black raspberry. Hints of cedar and oak spice dance on the palate and are enveloped by the velvety-rich tannins. This Cabernet is warm and inviting with tremendous depth and concentration. Beautifully drinking upon release and will age for many years to come.

Etude Wines is dedicated to the study of craft of winegrowing. In classical music, an etude is a composition with a technical focus that allows the musician to practice a particular technique. Similarly, Etude wines are the product of deliberate concentration on the instructive variables of the craft. The end game is not edification alone, but rather the wine itself as a source of enjoyment.

Etude was founded on the philosophy that winemaking begins in the vineyard long before the harvest and, that superior grape growing diminishes the need for intervention by the winemaker, resulting in wine that is grown, not made. Pinot Noir of all the classic grapes is the most difficult to make into wine. It mutates easily in the vineyard (a large number of clones have already been identified), is highly sensitive to climate and changes in soil composition, and is unstable during winemaking. General Manager and Winemaker, Jon Priest echoes Etude Wines founder, Tony Soter when saying, "There’s no better vehicle with which to study or practice the craft of winemaking than Pinot Noir. It is the most challenging, unforgiving and quixotic of all wine grapes, and yet the most delicate and transparent."

Proof/ABV: 14.5
