For this Reserve, Goose Island worked with Old Fitzgerald to source three exceptional sets of barrels from the distillery's Bottled-In-Bond Decanter Series, aged 14, 16 and 17 years. The result highlights the distinct character each barrel age brings to Goose Island's rich barleywine base.
Tasting Notes
A velvety, rich malt character is entwined with notes of toffee, cherry, vanilla, fig and almond, layered over the deep bourbon-barrel influence from the Old Fitzgerald barrels.
How to Enjoy It
Serve in a snifter or tulip glass slightly below room temperature to let the malt and barrel notes fully open up. Its rich, dessert-like profile pairs well with aged cheese, dark chocolate, or dried fruit.
