Hans Reisetbauer Cherry Eau de Vie
This cherry eau-de-vie is produced by Hans Reisetbauer in Axberg, Austria, and presents an exceptional expression of a classic kirschwasser-style cherry brandy. Ripe cherries are harvested in June then mashed and immediately placed in stainless steel for a 12-day fermentation at 19 °Celsius (66 °F). It takes 10.5 kg (over 23 lbs) of fresh cherries to make one liter of this eau-de-vie that is distilled twice in a Christian Carl copper pot still and rested for three years in stainless steel. Red cherry, watermelon rind, rose, and nutmeg are prominently displayed from the nose through the palate with the addition of a bit of marzipan confection on a surprisingly vibrant and spritely, fruity, floral finish. 41.5% ABV.
