Mas La Chevaliere Pinot Noir 20 750ML
The Mas la Chevaliere Pinot Noir grapes come from the winery’s vineyard partners in two distinct regions of the Languedoc: the Cevennes foothills in the Northern Gard region, and Limoux, in the western Languedoc. Coming from cooler terroirs, this is a Pinot Noir with hints of ripe red cherry and finely grained tannins.
Bright ruby color. The nose has a sensation of black fruit, and fleshy, ripe cherries with a hint of spice. Very well-balanced on the palate, delicate with very soft tannins.
Michel Laroche was one of the pioneers in the resurgence of quality winemaking in the south of France in the early 1980s. In 1996, he created Mas La Chevali®re, a state-of-the-art winery on the grounds of a splendid 18th century guesthouse, with the goal of producing wines that truly reflect the diversity of the Southern French varietals, climate and terroir.
The Languedoc is legendary in French winemaking history, as it was here that the Romans first planted vines in 4 B.C. The region is comprised of an impressive range of terroirs, allowing for the cultivation of a vast diversity of grape varieties. The climate is just right for Chardony and Pinot Noir in the high altitudes and cool temperatures of the foothills of the Massif Central and the Pyrenees. Chardony is part of the D of Laroche, from Chablis to Languedoc, where it owns Mas la Chevali®re with 32.5 hectares of two particularly unique terroirs: one dedicated to Syrah and one to Chardony.Today, thanks to its selection on cool climate terroirs and its unique high standard and modern wine cellar, Laroche offers a varietal range that represents balanced freshness and subtle aromas, linked to the Laroche sigture. "La Chevali®re," or "The Knight’s Lady," is a reference to "Mas La Chevali®re" which is literally the "Farmhouse of the Knight’s Lady," the Laroche property in Southern France. Although the farm is historic, the winery is an ultra-modern, temperature-controlled facility designed by Michael Laroche. Mas La Chevali®re is considered a reference point in the region for the quality of its winery equipment, which allows for the precise expression of each grape variety and vineyard parcel.
