Aside from Chablis, the furthest north the Esprit project goes with several plots of Gevrey going into this excellent cuvee. Certainly a wine (like the Nuits St. Georges Villages) that punches well above the weight of its classification.

A beautiful wine with a sustained color. The nose is complex with notes of black fruits and earthy undertones. The palate is structured with coated tannins giving it an impression of smoothness.

Started in 2018 by Domaine Leflaive as a venture beyond the C’te de Beaune and the Mconnais, to Chablis and the C’te de Nuits, to explore the wider Burgundy, including small selections of Pinot Noir in addition to Chardonnay. Esprit Leflaive grapes come from partnerships with select winegrowers who often work very old vines, are harvested by the Domaine's team, and vinified in the Domaine's cellar in Puligny Montrachet.

They bring diversity to the Leflaive wine family. The Esprit Leflaive collection, which included just eight Cuvées for its launch in the 2018 vintage, also explores Pinot Noir.
