Nik Weis, third generation winemaker has reshaped St. Urbans-hof into one of the \xe2\x80\x9chottest\xe2\x80\x9d wineries in Mosel. Elected to the VDP in just two short years, through a combination of strong viticultural techniques, green harvest and careful vinification, Nik has garnered fabulous scores on his Estate Riesling as well as For Ockfener Bockstein and Piesporter Goldtropchen Pradikats The most recent change comes in the 2011 vintage. Using only the oldest estate vineyards, Nik has crafted and even better quality Estate Riesling where all the grapes used are from two vineyard parcels 60 years of age and older. This results in a wine with much more complexity and character. Like all of the estate wines, only the natural ambient yeast is used for fermentation.
