Crisp Gala apple, Bartlett pear and hints of pineapple are layered by lovely pie spices and toasty vanilla notes. The palate is long and round with rich viscosity that comes from partial malolactic fermentation and barrel aging. In 1969 Sterling Vineyards bottled the first vintage-dated Merlot in California. This was also the winery's first vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. The winery itself is an architectural icon in Napa Valley. Modeled after the beautiful white stucco buildings on the Greek island of Mykonos, it was the first winery built with the visitor in mind and is the only winery in the world with an aerial tram. Today, Sterling Vineyards is one of the most visited wineries in Napa Valley and one of the largest landowners in the region, producing renowned, world-class wines.
