Distilled in Indiana, it is produced from a high-rye mash bill containing 95% rye and 5% malted barley. The whiskey initially matures for seven years in new charred oak barrels. It is then finished for an additional year in barrels previously used by Laird’s for aging apple brandy. This secondary maturation adds orchard-fruit character while maintaining the whiskey’s bold rye spice. Its aroma presents ripe apple, caramel, vanilla, oak, citrus peel, and fresh rye grain. The palate combines green apple, apple cider, pepper, cinnamon, clove, orange oil, and seasoned oak. Bottled as a single-barrel expression at barrel proof, it retains a concentrated texture and powerful flavor.
