The blend includes 35% from Vigna del Lago, known for its microclimate near the lake, 40% from Poggio al Granchio, with deep, structured soils, and 25% from Vigna Spuntali, situated at a higher altitude for fresh acidity. These distinct parcels contribute unique characteristics, creating a complex and harmonious wine that reflects the diverse terroirs of the estate. Established in 1969, Val di Suga is a pioneer in the production of terroir-driven Brunello di Montalcino from single vineyard (CRUs) and the only producer making three different wines from three different estates: Vigna del Lago in the North-East, Poggio al Granchio in the South-East and Vigna Spuntali in the South-West. Val di Suga has always believed in the highest expression of each single vineyard and its terroir. The first Brunello di Montalcino Cru Vigna del Lago was produced in 1982, coinciding with the beginning of the denomination’s success in the early 1980s. A few years later, in 1994, the Angelini company came along and gave Val di Suga new drive, which was already winning awards and recognized on an international level for its high-quality wines.

Poggio al Granchio The newest addition, Poggio al Granchio, debuted with the 2009 vintage. This vineyard features different orographic and geological characteristics, ranging from the municipal hill to the Orcia River. It has established itself as a prime location for Sangiovese, retaining its productive value over time. Named after a small pond in the center of the property, Poggio al Granchio is known for its colonies of freshwater crabs during certain seasons. Vigna Spuntali Debuting with the legendary 1988 vintage, Vigna Spuntali is our most prestigious and balanced Cru. It spans an area between the slopes of Sant'Angelo, the Orcia River, the Ombrone River, and the Bagnolo Stream. This vineyard, like Poggio al Granchio, is characterized by its fragmented topography and a distinctly Mediterranean climate, which enhances the grapes’ quality.
